She is beautiful, this wife of mine. With her dove gray eyes and pale skin. She will be the one every other Vor notices at parties. The woman that every other Vor covets. But she is mine now.

The truth is, she will never trust me. Nor I, her. It is the way we are programmed. Duped by too many in the harsh school of life. She is my equal in this regards. The perfect partner. Emotionless. Someone who can stand beside me for the benefit of tradition without the complications. I need to remember that when I look at her.

The thing that Franco always seems to forget is that his desperation to protect the King, he often leaves the Queen vulnerable.

Tá sendo bem chocante acompanhar a evolução dos personagens, principalmente da Talia. Sinceramente, não estava esperando por isso, ainda mais depois da carga emocional de Reaper. Pensei que esse seria de alguma forma mais leve, mas pelo visto me enganei....

Of perfection

Its been good. I enjoy reading the H POV more because he is way more interesting.

Review to come. Today is my birthday so I probably won't get to write it til Saturday. :)

Extremely addicting read! I liked the theme of choosing your own self, not being like your blood relatives. I didn't like either mc very much, though, despite the emotional, believable, action-packed read. They were too vengeful and angsty. I feel dissatisfied, in the end, because it was such a violent, other-ness resolution, rather than personal growth. (I rolled my eyes at some of their sex scenes, too.)

And yet, in the very next scene, she is angry and disappointed that Alex doesn't love her, doesn't want to spend time with her as a family, hobbies, walks, dinner, quiet evenings and mornings, cherishing, etc. oh, the complexity of people's emotions. From cruelty and an utter lack of empathy, or even simply pity for a person lost in evil, to craving warmth and comfort and kindness.

Well. One scene has unraveled all my like of Talia: the way she reacts to Dimitri being raped was absolutely abhorrent. Yes, Dmitri was the root of her terror, but wtf, lady. Now you're just like him: a person with qualities you know you hate. I understand revenge, but I struggle with accepting the emotional value of it: it simply lowers oneself, the opposite of growth: shriveling.

One word: irresistible. I can't seem to get up and do my morning chores; this book has me in a large-fisted chokehold.

Oy. This is a dark dark dark one.

I'm intrigued by Alexai...another great one coming!!
