Okay, it's right there in the title, but I'm already fed up with the lies. The decision to mark the application as white, I get. The decision to tweak job titles and positions on the resume I get. The lie about college, a bridge too far. Just say you're taking courses and want to get the degree!! She's obviously in over her head with the expectations of what she knows. I wonder why. The other lies... just no.

This book is getting me to reflect on why I was a pretty compulsive liar as a teenager and also what are the very few instances when I lie now?

I find this fun, not stressful (as many reviewers seem to have felt). I just relate to Amber a lot and there are many details that ring true: the bullshit acronyms in a field of work, knowledge gatekept by apps you have to pay for, etc etc. Like, the actual work isn't that difficult, but getting to do that work is hard because of all these walls put up.
