There’s a lot to like about this story, but there’s a few insurmountable irritants. 1. Reid tries hard to make stripping (and the male gaze) a respectable and non-objectifying thing, which is good. That said, she spends heaps of pages describing Charlotte’s (conventionally “sexy”) looks from Hank’s POV. 2. Charlotte is too clever/perfect to like, personality-wise. 3. At 50%, the tension is ramping down not up.
