He puppet voices are so creepy. And wrong. I keep almost quitting reading this because I hate them so much.

This book has a darker feel than her previous books but so far I'm loving it!

Annie, the heroine, is a ventriloquist. Theo, the hero, is something er, from a Gothic novel. The moment I read about Annie practising "variations of her eerie moans" to distract herself, I suddenly realised the ... handiness of her talent. Had a good chortle. Oh, SEP, as a longtime fan of yours, I have good feelings about this one.

I feel like less than 1/3 into the book I know who the villain is and have solved the mystery of the legacy.

I was rolling my eyes at the beginning of this book but I can see where it can be something more than what I was expecting from its beginning.

These jokes that Annie is playing on Theo are obnoxious. She's way too old to be doing that.

Not exactly what I was expecting. A bit dark - gothic almost. The whole puppet thing is a little annoying. Still, I'm intrigued.

I don't care how good his meat loaf is, the author has a long way to go to redeem this guy. And no, meat loaf isn't a euphemism.
