Status Updates From Euphoria

I don't know how (this always happens with Lily King) but I flew through the rest of this today. Really poignant observations about human nature and culture and identity... And really freaking sad!!! He's my bread and my wine!!! I hold him deep in my belly!!! I love what the book has to teach us about the nature of being human, but I hate some of the ramifications. I'm kind of unmoored.

Very good so far

Easy reading today. As I suspected, even with all the descriptions of the Aboriginal tribes and their customs, it's more a story about human connection and King writes these so freaking well! Andrew is so very lonely and Nell really deserves someone who doesn't see her as too much. Every woman deserves a man who is in awe of them. I know this isn't a romance and I know I shouldn't but I ship them.

While the subject matter is still not something I'm particularly interested in, I'm not at all surprised that once again, I'm sucked into the writing. I seriously, seriously wish I understood what it is about her writing!!! Someone with a degree in literature, tell me what kind of writing hers is and I'll be able to put a name to my addiction! I already love Nell and Andrew together. They both really need a friend!

I told myself, for the sake of the writing style you know you love... But it's fucking weird so far!!! But the first chapter was quick, I just might only be able to do so much in a day. I mean, what is this weird marriage?!?! I'm sure the book is going to make some very important points about anthropology, but I can't even express how much I do not care about anthropology... Sorry anthropologists!!
