Status Updates From If I Ever Get Out of Here

This is interesting but kind of slow-going. I get lost in the narration quite a bit, too, which really bogs me down. I want to finish, though!

Middle school must have been a turning point for Eric Gansworth, bc you can't make this stuff up. I laughed and teared up a bit, if that's a recommendation. Uncle Albert is my favorite character, great contrast to George's father, who is also cool; two different takes on "military dad". Maybe, someday, I will consider listening to the Beatles...

I don't usually read YA books, but this one struck my curiosity when I read about it on a newspaper website. I lived and worked not far from the Tuscarora reservation for several years, so I saw a lot of the racism and "otherness" that the book addresses. It's interesting to hear the other side. Still pretty early in the book, but the simple, personal story is keeping my interest so far.
