Among the many dumb things in this book, one that constantly grates is that within a premise that there are multiple planets hosting human life, of which Earth is actually the newest and youngest, only recently made aware of its cousins... every cultural reference made by characters is still to Indiana Jones, William Shakespeare, and Earth stories of faeries. Really? No one else had a culture to contribute?
