Wasn't able to get ahold of the original 1930 text, so I'm reading this post-1960 version.

Very interesting twist! I actually didn't see this one coming till right before it was revealed. Thankfully it wasn't listed in the title, so I actually got to slowly uncover the big twist myself!

Blue is the color that represents The Bungalow Mystery. Nancy drew is always described to be wearing blue. In the cover of all of the Nancy Drew books she is wearing blue. The blue represents Nancy being a calm but smart female role model. In the book she always describes things that are blue such as the lake.

I can connect to Nancy Drew because we both like mystery's. I like solving mystery's and I like reading mysteries and me and Nancy have it in common. Although I have never been caught in a storm on a lake I have been caught in a storm. Nancy and Helen got caught in a storm on a lake and me and my friend got caught in a lot of wind on a boat.

Actual surprises have happened! Like the burglar in Nancy's house being her father who forgot his key! That got an actual laugh and wasn't unbelievable or too coincidental. Liking the story a lot so far. Definitely seems to have found her groove.

So far this book is better than the previous 2. I can't guess the solution based on the title or first 2 chapters. I still don't even know what the full mystery is. So, that's fun!

I'm going to be asking Nancy questions. What made you want to solve mysteries? What was your hardest mystery to solve? Were you and Laura pendtaltin friends before she saved you? Why was Laura at the lake when there was a storm? Do you know Jacob Aborn and has he lived there long?

The setting of this book is moon lake in the 1930's. The fact that it is set at a lake is important to the story because someone drowns. The fact that it is set in the 1930's is not important because it does not change any details. The story would still work if it was present day but it would not work if it was set in a desert.
