this book is fine so far. i’m enjoying but i don’t think it’s a good book. everything seems to just happen to nancy and it’s not as enthralling a mystery as i would have hoped. i think my expectations have been sky rocketed by watching knives out

I read a handful of "new" Nancy Drew adventures in the 80s /90s, but I believe this was my first time reading one of the old yellow spines that I thought looked so boring when I was a kid. Well it turned out to be a fast paced story, albeit quite corny. Nancy Drew is a nosy busy-body! I liked it though.

People in this town sure are open about their financial woes. Most of the time Nancy Drew doesn’t even have to ask questions— they just spew it all out upon meeting. Nancy must have one of those faces.

I’m only on page 8, but if they find that missing will in an old clock I’m going to be so mad.

I’m really struggling to be captivated by the young Miss Nancy Drew and the mystery contained within the book.

I want to reread the Nancy Drew books! I discovered the love of reading with these books in 3rd grade. Now I want to finish all of them. The library has them! Also I want to read the Dana Girls mysteries, which I never read. Neither of my daughters liked Nancy Drew, and my son didn’t like Hardy Boys either. I hope to get my grandchildren reading them!!

Deciding to do a little throwback on my reading. I find the detail sharing funny. Like, everytime Nancy goes out, her outfit was described. "Becomingly dressed in a tan cotton suit, Nancy set off in her convertible for the shopping district." or "Nancy, wearing a yellow sunback dress and jacket, hurried away to get her gloves and handbag."
Ah, thus was the days of the not so important details.

If I don't make it my mission to read all 64 books in the original Nancy Drew series, I'll be thoroughly disappointed with myself.

These books made me want to be an author when I was a kid. Still want to be an author to this day. Let's see if I can stroll down nostalgia lane...

A classic. Nancy has good instincts and a decent amount of pure luck. She has a great relationship with her father and is well liked by strangers.

Major nostalgia reading through this one! I decided I wanted to read through at least the first 12 books this year as a goal, and I'm just reminded of how wholesome Nancy is by reading the little bit that I have so far.
