Laura Linney narrates the audiobook, and she does a great job. Her voice is emotive and yet soothing.

Nancy regularly handles motorboats

I know it doesn’t mean she fancied them but ‘Nancy being attracted to both girls’ is a wild thing to read in 2023. In 1930 it just meant she thought they were nice. But maybe a lil bisexual. I also like that despite the fact that Nancy was rich she wasn’t about letting people do chores for her that she could easily do.

I have to assume that in 1930 it was considered bad to be involved in gossip of any description, but any time anyone speaks about anything it could have been considered gossip.

Remembering this book is from 1930 is wild

Listening on audio. I remember reading one Nancy Drew as a girl and it absolutely scared me silly. (I was/am very scare-sensitive), so I never picked up another. I think maybe I can handle it now.

I had read all the Series of Unfortunate Events and I thought I would give Nancy Drew a try but I don't think I'll read any more after this one.

I am re-reading the first 4 along side my 9 year old niece for our mini book club. These books a fun and perfect for a 9 year old

This book is so nostalgic

Nancy Drew just casually driving into a stranger’s barn and becoming friends with them. This book is so 1930. You try that in 2023 and you get shot 💀

It’s painfully dull. It’s also a bedtime story, so that works well for me. My daughter thinks it’s exciting. 🤷‍♀️

Ok maybe I didn’t finish this last year and I just thought I had…

I swear I read this like last year but it doesn’t show on Goodreads and I can’t remember if I actually finished it, so here we go again! Sometimes I like to pretend I’m Kit Kittredge in the 1930s reading Nancy Drew and being a super sleuth.

This didn’t age amazingly well, but was still interesting to read.
