Status Updates From The Secret of the Old Clock

At this present time I have a proximately an hour and 77 minutes left in the book. And I will be starting chapter 10.

"Nancy was attracted to both girls" hahahaha who knew u liked girls Nancy lol

Just catching up on my classic children's books :)

"'The boiler had disappeared but was finally located in a curiosity shop. Inside, pasted on the bottom, was what proved to be a word puzzle in Chinese. The old Frenchman's heirs were about to give up in despair when a Chinese solved the puzzle" (155) and it was at this point that I went "wait, WHEN was this written?" And was relieved to see it was 1930, not 1987. Still. A Chinese.

"Nancy smiled. 'Have a grand time, Helen,' she said.

'How about coming along? It's not expensive and there's room for lots more girls. We'd have loads of fun'" (82). I bet you would

"Nancy was attracted to both girls and responded to their friendly welcome. She put on a robe which Allison brought her and Grace hung her wet clothes near the range" (41). Oh did she now? And the author went to an all women's school, you say?

"Selecting a recently constructed highway, Nancy rode along, glancing occasionally at the neatly planted fields on either side. Beyond were rolling hills.

'Pretty,' she commented to herself. 'Oh, why can't all people be nice like this scenery and not make trouble?'" (34) not the comparison I was expecting

This is a fast, simple read for me, and I'm enjoying the story too.

"Just before his death, he attempted to communicate something to the doctor who attended him, but his words, other than 'will' were unintelligible. After the funeral, only one will came to light, giving the entire fortune to the Tophams."

I'm thinking, "He was murdered!!" But then I remember this is Nancy Drew and not Poirot or Miss Fisher.

I found a boxed set of the first 10 Nancy Drew books at the thrift store for $4! The first few pages the writing seems simple enough, so it'll be a quick read.

I almost forgot how much I loved Nancy Drew!!!

My first time picking up the Nancy Drew series and I must say I'm very impressed! I love them already! I cannot believe there are 64 books!! Considering I currently only have 1-8 I know what I'm asking for for the next few holidays, birthdays and celebrations! 😊

Well recently I acquired the first 55 books in the series, from my cousin. I have read some of them as a child, these editions that she gave me are from the 60's and are very well loved. But in good condition. I am planning on reading all of them and then passing them to my kids.

I just got done with GONE GIRL - listening on audio and although I absolutely love the book I couldn't stand the ending so I only rated for out of five stars-so now I'm listening to a Nancy Drew book which I haven't read in probably 35 years - and I'm totally enjoying it it's light and fast and fun and they even have music once in a while k which reminds you of a very old TV show

We'll see how many books I get into this re-read before I get tired of the fact that their housekeeper is always referred to as "Hannah Gruen". We know, just say Hannah.

I read only 1 Nancy Drew story when I was a kid. I think it's The Missing Horse. I remember liking the whole mystery and detective stuff.

But I don't have a good feeling about this one. I usually don't like 'dead man's will' sort-of mysteries. But the audiobook read by Laura Linney is done very well, with mysterious music added here and there to up the tension.

I have always love Nancy Drew mysteries. I will eventually read them all.

This could be a dangerous choice of series to start! I have always loved to read the Nancy Drew series! So far so good, feeling nostalgic as a little girl the first ever novel that I properly read and loved was a Nancy Drew one!! 👍👍

My daughter and I are going to read this together so maybe she will finally actually finish reading a book so she can work on meeting her AR goal for the fourth grade.

Talk about a throwback!

I wonder did the Tophams really set up all of those thefts that had been going on?

I wish Nancy had some company during her quests. She must get awfully lonely in doing the detective work all by herself.

I have never read a Nancy Drew before. I guess the first one would be the best place to start.

I have finished chapter two and I hope that unpleasant family (I forgot their surname already!) gets their comeuppance!
