Really enjoying re-reading this! It's been so long that I'd forgotten the story...it's better than I remember. :)

After watching the new series, I felt like reading one of the originals.

I'm just reading a bunch of books from my tbr and I recently really wanted to reread some Nancy Drew so that's how I got here.

I have had these books since I was a little girl. Going to give the 1st one a try.

I started this one last night, probably because I have a nice hardcover copy😍 and it was a book on my bookshelf that had been sitting there for years. I love it! It has the best cover and illustrations (can't help but love the retro😁) and is very fast-paced (only 180 pages?!?!). The only slightly bad thing is that it is kind of dull, but that is because it is a childrens novel.

Listened to a podcast yesterday - they reread some Nancy Drew for nostalgia and discussion. Realized I’ve never read any Nancy Drew.

Not as thrilling as some of the later books, although maybe closets were made of sterner stuff back then.

Somehow, as a young child obsessed with murder mysteries and books who wanted to be Matlock when she grew up, I never read any Nancy Drew. I’m remedying that now.

I’m super pissed-off that the CW is making a Nancy Drew series (as from the trailer that I was unfortunate enough to see you can already tell they’ve just created another Riverdale monster), so I’ll be re-reading these books for the duration of the summer in an attempt to soothe my rage. I’ve wanted a Nancy Drew tv series for years, but not like this, and NOT from the goddamn CW!

So glad I finally decided to try a Nancy Drew mystery!!

First original Nancy Drew book with A! And this was an heirloom passed down from my aunt to my mother to me and now to A 💖

Pg 157 the author uses the phrase “it fitted” when a key fits a certain lock instead of he possibly more modern phrase “it fit.” It’s interesting to see how language changes over time.

Introduction of Nancy Drew

So far, my favorite part of this book is the mystery aspect. I like reading a book and finding an answer at the end. Right now, I am at the climax of the book, so many things are going on, and they are all leading to the answer.

Nancy Drew is at the Topham bungalow at the sight of a robbery. Nancy is trying to solve the Crowly case. The clock should be somewhere in the cottage

I used to love this series as a kid. But I read the updated Nancy Drew series that came out in the 90s. This old school Nancy was boring and I found her tedious.

At first this was a bit boring. But, I gotta admit this is really growing on me!
