Damn, this book is good. I usually find myself drawn to villains, but Morg is such a sadistic SOB with not one redeeming quality that I can't wait for Asher and Gar to take him down. It's just a shame that this is the last book in the series. A couple of other books take place in the same world but at different time periods. I hate that this isn't a big Wheel of Time like series taking place over 90 books.

Things are getting really good now. I feel like I'm in for a soap opera moment, though. The lawful character is about to find out the main character is committing a sin worthy of death, but I expect by the time they arrive to get their "proof" all evidence of the sin will be removed. Still, who knew Willer would amount to such an important character?

Dathne's arrogance is starting to piss me off. I'm furious at her for the way she treated Matt. She slaps him, he stops her from slapping him a second time, and then Asher has the nerve to fire him for "laying hands on his woman." Matt is right; the way Dathne is postponing telling Asher the truth is going to lead to some very big hurt feelings.

While the politicking is interesting, when is the "prophecy" that Dathne foresaw going to happen? While there's still over 500 pages left, it feels like there's not enough time left before this "series" ends.

I was really surprised by the results of the carriage accident that concluded book one. I thought for sure that the outcome for at least one character would be different. The political intrigue is interesting but I want villain interaction.

This is my "back-up" book. I read this one rarely.
