For something that started with a genderless society, this is weirdly morphing into a quite heteronormative story when it comes to the 'romantic' relationships that exist here.

The unnatural inflection of the guy who reads the Greg Egan audiobooks is annoying, but much more annoying is hearing him butcher the name of every mathematician. So far he’s gotten to ‘Yooler’, ‘Rye-mann’, and ‘Fermit’s last theorem’. I don’t know why audiobook readers are so unwilling to google pronunciations for this kind of thing.

This was relatively difficult to read and process because of the hard scifi, but also it felt... affecting? The people at book club promised that it gets easier from here, and I'm intrigued!
