I already have regrets. The ableism is foreboding, I feel.

The fact that this is a story that a teacher is telling to his students makes me so uncomfortable.

maybe Swift criticises people for asking "why?" so we don't ask why on earth he wrote this book

I can't quite explain how or why, but some paragraphs of this book read like "Parklife" by Blur (and not in a good way)

Blimey some of these sentences are like a Greek labyrinth. They twist and turn back on themselves through clauses and subclauses. Lots of question marks as well - the last 3 pages I read finished every paragraph with a question mark and almost every sentence too lmao

Starting this book once again. Last time I had to drop it because I was moving countries and I borrowed it from a library. We'll see how it goes this time.

Nonostante lo stia leggendo per l'Uni e nonostante sia un pelino pesante sono contenta di questa lettura! Mi mancava leggere in lingua.

Starting slowing, just read a single chapter (lots of short, titled chapters) a day. I'm immediately very drawn to this. Excited.

I don’t know how to feel about this book. It’s powerfully written, and it’s not dark, but it’s ominous. FYI: (I’m not really prudish when it comes to lit) I skipped over an explicit scene.
Perhaps the tone is bitter? Again, some fire prose here but it’s not a comfortable read, either.

Did not finish. I just couldn’t cope with the authorial voice: slow, pedantic, patronising, unsympathetic, small-minded. I’m prepared to accept that it was beautifully done - but I just couldn’t stand Tom Crick and refuse to spend any more time in his company.

I kinda had a shot that something like this must have happened though I was skeptic how it might unfold... now that it has actually happened, I feel so bad...

The book is brilliantly written. Reading through it is like completing a 5000-piece puzzle: you sometimes come up with pieces that you have no idea where they might fit but as you move on you find those pieces perfectly in harmony with the rest of it. I’m really enjoying it!
