A che cosa serve l'istruzione, che cosa ha da offrire quando è privata del suo indispensabile alleato, il futuro, e si trova invece davanti a nessun futuro?

The most depressing and (I’m sorry) boring book I’ve read. Not my cup of tea :/

La realtà non è strana, non è imprevista. La realtà non risiede nell'improvvisa, allucinante successione degli eventi. La realtà è mancanza di eventi, vuoto, piattezza. La realtà è che non accade nulla.

I read this book in year 1 at university. It is a post-modern book about the end of history. Our lecturer played us a song by Sinead O’Connor called ‘Famine’. I remember being perplexed and unsure whether I was meant to be at university.
When we were on holiday in North Wales, Sinead O’Connor died. I read about her song ‘Famine’ again. Then I walked into a bookshop and this was prominently displayed.

Woah there: incest, underage drinking, utter chaos, what is real and what is not….
I find myself swirling into an ever-deepening whirlpool of plot line that has no end in sight, but the book is (relatively) coming to an end.

So interesting. Stream of consciousness narration? Why is there ZERO supplementary material about this book on the internet.

Wow the circuitous nature of this book is really disorienting but Swift writes in such a posh, conversational tone I feel like I’m sitting in a class at Oxbridge.

Gosh this book is such a grog to read. So many specifics and details and names and hugeeee sentences. Though I must admit—there are some really nice gems of narration.

Very interesting, circuitous start to the book. I already know I’m going to learn about very hidden and uncovered history topics…
