I've just finished the first section, and I must say - so far, so good. Hume is far easier to read than Descartes, and his aim is far more interesting and important; to rid us 'undermine the foundations of an abstruse philosophy' AKA metaphysics. I wonder whether he'll be as skeptical as Descartes, with regards to human understanding tho.

God, Hume's prose is awful. I like his arguments, but the sentences are usually around seven or eight lines long and littered with commas in places where they're not needed. Torturous to read.

I can't tell if it was simply the way it was used at the time or if Hume abuses the comma like no writer I've ever encountered
