I'm loving the travel-logue aspect to this mystery, but thus far, the characters seem very "un-French" in their thoughts and speech. I would be curious if someone with more experience than me (Francophile born in California) has any input on this....

I keep reading the mostly good reviews looking for a reason to persevere. So far this novel is disappointing, especially after Peter Mayles and Martin Walker. I'm going to stick with it -- for now.
