this book oscillates through periods of discomfort; i honestly can't tell if it's worth finishing but i have been using the pen cause the phrasing is gorgeous... a real first world problem

the more i read, the closer i am to finishing the book. just one more page... and another... and another...

the progress is slow but i am enjoying this book i swear

the casual slavery and war and bloodshed catches me off guard every time... 400 bc or whenever it is was brutal

The premise sounds like pure madness like how does one even come up with this idea for a book 😭 so far it's working for me and also, the number of 5 star reviews???? Must continue reading

forget the concept, the phrasing in some of these random passages is GORGEOUS

this book spent the first half trying to fool you into thinking it’s not bleak but it’s not pretending anymore and it’s devastating

I’m in the minority for sure, but this book just makes me a bit sad.
