Starting off pretty cruel… is this really about a Roman’s perspective on how they took over Greek theatre? When theatre was bastardized? If my theatre history teacher could hear these characters diminish Sophocles’ work because they prefer that of Euripides… ooof, their asses would get wooped! Both are thespian masters. But I guess it’s like the pop girlies being pitted against each other these days..

I had my doubts, but this is good. My thanks to Sophia's review that led me, here. That said, they have the setting listed as Italy, which is absolutely driving me bonkers because Italy didn't exist. It's setting is Syracuse, Magna Graecia.

Unfortunately, that's enough for me. I just can't do a paid date with a slave, acting like an absolute pig, giving the *implications* and then 180ing into love bombing and 'I'm only a dick because I'm disabled and lack confidence', especially in the wider context of the Athenian being worked and starved to death, but some get some extra food so they can put on a play for a sad guy
Could well be my autism though

I'm enjoying this enough, but I'm getting that feeling I always associate with les Mis. I'm genuinely interested and engaged with the overarching story and setting, but the pressing issues the story is exploring only serve to make the protagonist's (or with Les Mis, Eddie fucking Redmane) own problems seem insignificant. I think this might be the autism lol, but this guy is the worst in a way I don't enjoy.

This was a random recommendation and I am thoroughly enjoying it so far. In many ways it makes a good double feature with Kae Tempest's Brand New Ancients
