Excellent. What a precious vision of life. I can tell I'll be re-reading this within a few years at least.

That being said, I couldn't disagree more with his advocation of the received text tradition. Perhaps he articulates his position better somewhere else, but by simply stating it without a strong defense, he ruined an otherwise beautiful chapter on the creeds.

Coming to worship the Lord in the “beauty of holiness” somehow gets translated to the “warmth of niceness.” Almost entirely gone is the experience of being run through, pierced by the numinous.
