After doing som research…. Yeah technically this is the 4th book in the series smfh 😑 I don’t know why this is labeled as a whole new series if the one this is literally based on the same world/characters as the darker shade of magic series 🙄🙄🙄
I’m gonna pause this and come back later once I’ve read the other 3 books 😤 I’m so annoyed

When a character has an alter ego and then changes shifts the narration so it's now that personality narrating my brain starts purring it's the good shit

Some of y’all say you don’t like Delilah Bard. And you’re absolutely wrong. 🫢

This book feels unnecessarily long, like 200 pages -at least-more than it should have. Lots of flashbacks that don't seem to add much, constant changes of POV, lots of long ramblings and the actual plot moving at the slowest of paced... This book is testing my commitment... I still love Tess and Lila though

The constant flashbacks & changing of pov plus unnecessarily long exposition is really testing me. I am hoping this picks up but I already feel this book could -should- have been 300 pages shorter...

I actually didn’t finish this in time before it was returned to the library so I now have to wait in line to get it again… but it was really good so far!

I have been reading this very slowly to make it last because the next one is a while away. 9 more pages and then it will be done for now :(
It's been a ride with old and new characters and new dangers and old.
I was a bit worried that there was too much foreshadowing right at the start - a solution presenting itself - but it was resolved neatly and elegantly.
