Had to put this book to the side for now. It was listed as #1 for a new series in the same universe as "a Darker Shade of Magic", but it has tons of spoilers for later events in that first series, which I'm still waiting for from the library. So I'll come back to this later.

The second part felt like wading into the calming water at the beach, but not seeing the enormous wave until it crashes into you and knocks you down. And I loved it.
