A very thorough, detailed account of a serial killer. I appreciate the author’s respect for the victims through the telling of their individual lives and family members.

Very difficult to put down. I already know the ending. However this book certainly provides significantly more insight than the media provided.

My book had 726 pages.

The author is pretty repetitive but I was warned of that already (and a bit slow because of all the information) but it’s moving along & interested to see how this ends!

This is a big one! 700 pages!

Omg….this was so close to home, I lived in the areas talked about and it’s so eery to know this was going on and I had no idea at the time!

I’m sorry to my bookclub but I might bail on this one. It’s a chore to read.

I’m in the greatest slump of my life. I think trudging through a huge nonfiction book is weirdly the best option as it allows me to read a little bit every day, but to do so guilt free and proudly. I don’t feel like a failure getting through this so slowly.

With Pickton in custody when pieces of evidence linked him to the deaths of two women, things got intense. In jail, Pickton was obstinate about being involved with any killing of prostitutes and became quite neutral surrounding any involvement, feigning shock. On the farm, investigators found mountains of evidence and biological proof, including freezers with parts and bone pits with human remains. Cue the circus!

The more women who went missing, the slower the police seemed to be about solving the disappearances. While Cameron does posit that the prostitute nature of the women might have created some lack of interest, there came a time when the number of women could not be ignored. After a passed clash with a woman, Picton was even a person of interest, but little came of it. A task force started with little results. Onwards!

Picton remained a quiet guy who focussed much of his attention on his slaughterhouse and befriended a few women, none of whom became anything romantic. However, with his brother’s influence, Picton had another side, one that enjoyed venturing into Vancouver’s Downtown East side to find prostitutes, He would take them back to the farm, offering money for sex and drugs. Then came the slew of missing women. Coincidence?

Telling the story of a Canadian serial killer like no other, Stevie Cameron pulls the reader into the life and times of Robert 'Willie' Piction. Born and raised in British Columbia, Picton's life focussed on farm work, as his parents purchased a large piece of property to raise animals. Picton was a shy boy and always filthy, but his dedication to the farm was second to none. Shy, Picton found his niche working hard.

Had some time to read while my patient was napping!

And now the police are outright lying to families about their missing loved ones’ welfare and whereabouts so that they don’t file official missing reports!? What. The. Fuck.

I sincerely hope that Inspector Fred Biddlecombe no longer has a job.

This book is exhaustively researched and very well written. This book is both depressing and infuriating.

Every woman in this book is introduced with a comment on her attractiveness. Such a weird choice for a work of nonfiction attempting to show how little we value the lives of women involved in sex work.

I didn't realize this book was 700 pages when I ordered. But it's a great book! This guy really did his homework before writing this one. I'm going to know everything there is to know about this chain of events. A little past the halfway point and so far it's a great read.

I'm getting towards the end! Trying to squeeze it in among the copious amounts of study. Loving it as well
