As always J.D. Salinger is a page turner.

Teddy is autistic. That is my deduction.

Each story makes me feel alive, in a beautifully sad way.

It has been awhile since I read anything by Salinger that I forgot how wonderful he is! What a good book for Valentine's Day.

One more story to go...all, so far, have been beautifully executed. :)

For Esmé - with Love and Squalor, is by far my favorite story so far. Such minimalistic writing with so much heart, I feel like I could just reach out and embrace the protagonist like a brother.

Glad we aren't doing any of these for lit. Way too ambiguous.

Maybe because my head's hurting, I don't quite feel like tearing through this anymore. Preferring to go through it bit by bit and even start up another book in the mean time.

Closed the year reading Salinger's Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut. Good enough, I guess.

Trying to read one story a day, but I will probably have to scatter those days apart.

Found out in a Hemingway bio that Papa was a huge influence on Salinger, that he had met Salinger and liked him. Reading these stories, you can see the influence, although the cadence is very different.

Great writing, really dark subject matter. To be expected with Salinger. "The Laughing Man" is my favorite so far (in Salinger speak, that killed me), even though finishing was like a sucker punch.

Vamos a hacer una pequeña pausa con este libro de irregular lectura. Algunos cuentos son interesantes, otros son un bodrio

every year i read this, and every year, it kills me. "...Over on third base, Mary Hudson waved to me. I waved back. I couldn't have stopped myself, even if I'd wanted to. Her stickwork aside, she happened to be a girl who knew how to wave to somebody from third base."

Listen, if you're not gonna be a nun or something, you might as well laugh.
