THURSDAY'S HW (due friday): Unfortunately I am agnostic; however, I am quite an admirer of St. Francis of Assissi from a distance, it goes without saying. complex

And my autumn of short story collections rolls on... it's really no surprise that the ratings for this are so high, and Salinger is pretty much a master at telling stories almost entirely through dialogue. I really like Catcher, and going so far off this I should look into revisiting Franny & Zooey

"De Daumier-Smith's Blue Period" is also going to be one of my favorites. Only one more short story left.

My favorite story out of all of them right now is "For Esmé - With Love and Squalor". I'm going to attempt to finish it today so I can start with "Uncle Tom's Cabin".

Uncle Wiggily in CT was very depressing and realistic. J.D. Salinger seems to write about family problems and relationship flaws and relate-able feelings and personalities.

Genial la frase: "Le estoy dando a la hermana Irma la libertad de seguir su propio destino. Todo el mundo es una monja".

Salinger's voice is so welcoming. When I read his short stories, I feel like he is a close friend, and we are sitting comfortably next to a lit fireplace while he tells his stories. My favorite so far is "For Esme--With Love and Squalor."

Maybe my favorite title for a short story: 'For Esmé - With Love and Squalor'.

This is the squalid, or moving, part of the story, and the scene changes. The people
change, too. I'm still around, but from here on in, for reasons I'm not at liberty to
disclose, I've disguised myself so cunningly that even the cleverest reader will fail to
recognize me

I've never seen better engagement of child-characters in fiction. Salinger is pure genius in many places.

In these stories I am seeing the DNA of Carver and Murakami! Or is it just me?

Three stories in and I am not following. They are either very stupid or way over my head.

I'm not certain how I feel about this one. I'm glad to learn Seymour's story, and the way Salinger writes, to paraphrase Holden Caulfield, just knocks me out, but...about Nine Stories, I'm just not certain.

Pues bueno esta es la 3 obra que leo del misantropo mundo de Salinger.Y esta vez sus cuentos cortos,no me hicieron desear ahorcarlo.*Aplausos.*
Cuentos que valen la pena "A Perfect Day for Bananafish","Just Before the War with the Eskimos" y "For Esmé – with Love and Squalor".Salinger tall vez en tus cuentos no pase nada, absolutamente NADA...ah pero sos un maestro en el arte de la Narrativa.
