Bananafish!

I really enjoyed the second to last story! One story left!

I'm liking these stories, but this isn't exactly blowing me away...

Perfect say for banana fish: all characters suck at communicating: esp Muriel, girl is most likely too self centered to notice depressed Seymour who might actually have mild

It was brilliant. Dark undertones run through all the stories. I would definitely recommend this book.

The stories I've read so far are amazingly good. JD Salinger is soooo dark.

Story 4 was kind of boring, but I like the non flashback parts of it

"For Esme-with Love and Squalor" was masterful

Finished the brilliant 'A Perfect Day for Bananafish' and the upper-class tale of the sad, spoiled and frustrated Eloise in 'Uncle Wiggly in Connecticut'. These are the first two of nine short stories collected from Salinger's work for The New Yorker featuring characters in and around the Glass family. Enjoying delving into the short stories Salinger wrote after returning to civilian life after the War.

Oh my god... oh my god... A Perfect Day for Bananafish absolutely wrecked me. I just... I love Salinger's writing so much... oh dear god.

One story down, 8 more to go. I'd like to read one each day for the next week or so, I love Salingers writing

I liked The Laughing Man.

So far, I have read 3/9 stories, and in general I have no idea what's going on. The story ends and I'm either confused by the crazy twist that happened at the end, or I find myself asking "what was the point of what I just read?" and unable to find any kind if answer. :(

"Teddy" was my favorite of the the Nine Stories. It has affected me in more ways than I can comprehend at the moment.

I hope X recovered and repaired the watch that Esme sent him. I'm enjoying these short stories very much.

For Esme is so beautifully meta. I cannot with this collection, Salinger was amazing. <3

Un niño genio e "iluminado" ya que hace todo un discurso budista, habla con un joven que conoce sus ideas y ha escuchado grabaciones de él, como siempre, sin dejar nada en claro, Salinger hace que se intuya que el protagonista murió.

infidelidad, cinismo, terquedad...Salinger sabe describir muy bien a la humanidad, pero el día está frío y me deprime, leeré algo más.

Perfectamente elaborado, toda la desdicha de la guerra y la vida en diálogos.... qué maravilla.

Salinger manages to maintain steady themes and motifs throughout his stories while creating a variety of lifestyles and characters.

I'm completely in love with Salinger's writing style. His stories leave so much to think about without having to directly say anything.

So far all the stories haven't been what I would call uplifting.
