De Daumier-Smith's Blue Period was so good. Both heartbreaking and profound.

Salinger's short stories are genius. They are all very different and all vaguely brilliant and entirely raw.

For Esme with Love and Squalor....excellent.

That first story was not screwing around.

"Down at the Dinghy" (3 stars), "for Esme.." (3 stars), "Pretty Mouth and Green My Eyes" (4 stars)

"The Laughing Man" 3 stars. Least favourite so far

"Just Before the War with the Eskimos" 3.5 stars. Someone stop me

I meant to save this for later, but I couldn't resist, so I accidentally read "A Perfect Day For Bananafish" (5 stars) and "Uncle Wiggily in Conneticut" (4 stars). Salinger is awesome

"Linda boquita y verdes mis ojos" maravilloso. "para Esmé: con amor y sordidez" y "El hombre que ría" me han parecido más sesudos, metaficción y cosas de estas que me dejan más frío.

"A Perfect Day for Bananafish" Wow, the storytelling in this story is incredible. Salinger tell us so much through clever symbolism, and has us connected to the characters so quickly. That makes it so devastatingly beautiful.

This is delightful. So far my favourites have been 'A Perfect Day for Bananafish' and 'The Laughing Man'.

Like Ted and The Laughing Man most.

These stories are depressing.

WHAT. - My reaction to the ending of Bananafish.

Salinger is just a big bundle of messy human emotion and empathy splattered on the pages and it's exactly what I need right now.

I started this months ago, got bored and stopped. I've only got two stories left anyway, so can't hurt.

THE LAUGHING MAN -- brilliant.

Two stories in and I'm loving it!
