This book is amazing and playful, very similar to the rhetoric of a Japanese koan.

I think all short stories inherently remind me of 7th grade English class

Don’t feel like reading much do to the 15,0000 words I have written in the past month (not exaggerating) which means I spend every waking minute of my days reading stuff for school to write stupid things. But alas. I didn’t realize Salinger was a postwar writer nor did I think he was this dark and some of the short stories worked better than others but he is a great writer through and through

Hands down, this Salinger guy is an absolute mad man when it comes to writing. Currently, A Perfect Day for Bananafish is the best, and Down at the Dinghy is the least compelling, for me.

Great short stories from the post-war shiny times. Why wasnt someone making me read these in high school? The Catcher in the Rye scared everyone off. You get a real time-shift from Salinger, and short stories with endings that send a mysterious vibration, a tremolo, back through what you just read.
