Из первых 6-ти рассказов выделю "Лапа-растяпа" и "Перед самой войной с эскимосами". Очень тонко написано: из текста воспроизводится картинка фильма, в которой видны интерьеры, движения и позы людей и слышны их диалоги. Никаких оценок характера от автора или пересказа прошлого героя - все в одном кадре. Я читаю текст - я воспроизвожу хорошо картинку - я сам интерпретирую и интерполирую характеры и судьбы людей.

I read the first story "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" in college. I'm not positive if I've read the other short stories yet but I just started.

So far the very first story was sad in my opinion, I got to read part of the second story and so far its interesting.

Haven't read this book in almost 10 years. Think it's time to reread.

The first short story had a very startling yet great ending,

Remember when I said I'd have this finished by the end of 2016...?

"I know, but don't."

"The young lady, however, seemed slightly bored with her own singing ability, or perhaps just with the time and place; twice, between verses, I saw her yawn. It was a ladylike yawn, a closed-mouth yawn, but you couldn't miss it; her nostril wings gave her away."

I've read the first two. A Perfect Day For Bananafish left me puzzled. I sort of got it but read reviews for my own clarification. Sad. Uncle Wiggily In Connecticut left me sad too. It affected me. At first I felt such dislike for Eloise. Later I had such empathy. Hurt people hurt people. Very well written but can I take seven more stories like this?
