Status Updates From Dokuz Öykü

A Perfect Day for Bananafish and The Laughing Man are my favorite stories so far. The former rooted deeply in my heart. Ah, Seymour. My poor gifted Seymour.

Estou lendo esse livro muito devagar, mas acredito que esteja fechando a leitura da obra do autor com chave de ouro ao acompanhar as aulas do Caetano Galindo.
3° conto lido e estou completamente arrebatada. "Tio Novelo em Connecticut" é um de meus favoritos. Mal temos contato com a figura do Walt nos demais contos da família Glass, mas as memórias que Eloise carrega me parecem a homenagem perfeita.

تا اینجا چهارتا داستان خونده‌ام و ۲ تاش عالی بوده.

I just finished, For Esme, with Love and squalor, and I can feel it in my head, moving around. My opinion on this book has changed over the last 70 pages.

I read Down at the Dinghy and For Esmé—with Love and Squalor. I liked both, although they were a bit sadder.

I just finished The Laughing Man. It was definitely an interesting one. It felt like a story within a story which I liked.

I just finished Just Before the War with the Eskimos. I liked it since it felt like a conversational story.

Just finished “A Perfect Day for Bananafish”. Strange, compelling, whimsical, dark. I had forgotten how much I love Salinger’s style. The dialogue is astounding, quick, strings you along. So precise.

“I’m training myself to be more compassionate. My aunt says I’m a terribly cold person.”

the laughing man sucks. if you read this, skip that one

داستان موزماهی رو خوندم.
خیلییییییییی قشنگ بود. اصولن کتاب خوب رو آدم خیلی خوب هم میتونه تصویرسازی کنه ازش ولی این داستان واقن انگار فیلم بود. حتا میتونستی تن صدا و لحنشون رو هم متوجه شی.

I mean, sort of on page 86. I hated The Laughing Man so much that I completely DNFed it.

This is a great read for the library — dialogue-heavy short-stories that just breeze on by. There's a great, flowery manner of characterization here that feels both tongue-in-cheek and very "real." He knows his way around flippant, adolescent thoughts. The stories so far make the reader interrogate why they were written.

'на есме...' е повече от чудесен разказ. когато стане дума за селинджър, винаги се сещам първо за прозявката на есме. забележително.

The ending of the first story took me by surprise. This is the second Salinger book I’m reading and both have somewhat to do with the contrast between childhood innocence and living as an adult but not being able to come to terms with it.

I mean if Salinger can't make me interested in short stories, I think it's safe to say that no one else can.
