Just Before the War... - Gonna be honest, this is way too much subtext that I can't enjoy the text as much as the rest. It was good, but really simple and even the character arc was really simple. It's quaint, but this one isn't mind-blowing even though it was probably the most minimalist story thus far that got its point across. low 7/10

2) Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut - an interesting short story that is a microcosm of the emptiness of suburbia, but with such an unlikable main character that's a sexist, racist, and an abusive mom. It is an unpleasant read, but it is an interesting one once viewed through a different context. 7/10

The Laughing Man has me tearing up and I don't even know how to articulate why...

Bananafish: Brilliant but very sad. Fascinated by post-war stories of soldiers suffering from PTSD. The only person he's able to relate to meaningfully is a precocious child. Tragic ending.

Wiggily: Even sadder but just as brilliant. Poor Eloise is just miserable and the booze isn't helping.

Eskimos: Love that Ginnie's persistence led her to discover a world beyond her expectations. Out of characters. 1/3 done!

تا اینجا هر داستانی که از این کتاب خواندم بعدش رفتم نقدشو خوندم، نمیدونم چرا اکثر داستان‌های سلینجر رو متوجه نمیشم، از لحاظ فضاسازی و توصیفات خیلی خوبه و منو با خودش همراه میکنه ولی ته همه‌ی داستان‌ها اینجوری‌ام که خب که چی!

A Perfect Day for Bananafish - interesting story, but way too enigmatic and dialogue based for my taste. The story is gross without bringing attention to it - but not sure what it all meant and didn't walk away wanting to. But good story even if it is so purposely vague 7/10
