The basic idea for the story, the world, and a few other essentials are that n my head when I set fingers to keyboard, then the story flows organically from my imagination. I read the story as it emerges, meet the characters as they arrive on stage, and learn about the world as I walk with my new friends. Once the story ends, I go back and do all the work that a planner does at the beginning, not just grammar, but plot, structure, and so forth. It’s just as much work, but, to me, far more fun.
