I've always loved drawing the most. The first book I created was in the first grade. In fact, I studied hard and got classwork done quickly just so I could sketch. It's funny now, but this got me into big trouble because my teachers found that the rest of the class would watch me draw instead of finishing their own work. In the 4th grade I was actually forbidden to draw for that entire year! It was tough, being forced to just sit there without paper or books or anything. So I imagined stories in my head instead. And look at me now, Mrs. Doty!
The Rhino & Dino series are my first published titles as an author/illustrator, and I'm excited that the first two have been honored with Outstanding Achievement in Children's Literature by the Wisconsi ...more
