J Carrell Jones studies people. His major in college was Anthropology before switching over to Computer Science and Information Technology. He worked in the Customer Support Services for many years, which gave him more opportunity in putting his understanding about people to good practical use. As a US Army veteran, he knows how to play hard and work tough. Nowadays, he gets his greatest joys in life by raising his brilliant young daughter, and writing. He lives in Southern California where the weather is mostly great with his wife, daughter, son, and two female cats.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Research - Personally, I think you can never have too much information. The Internet is full of it: good, bad, or indifferent. And, the mind is a fantastic thing. Its able to draw on that bloated store of data 24/7, asleep or awake. There have been many times I'll wake up from a dream with yet another story to write or an answer to something I'm working on.

Design - This is where I am lucky. I'm also an Artist. If I get bogged down on a section of a story, I'll start think about doing an art piece. Be it a new poster, a new book cover, an illustration or experiment with a new technique. There are hundreds of great Photoshop tutorials on YouTube. One of my favorites is Phlearn.com. Aaron is outstanding.

A Friend - My BFF lives one apartment down from me. We've know each other for decades and having her literally less than a hundred feet away has been awesome. Sometimes we'll talk about an idea I'm working on, or something she is working on or something completely out in left field.

So, at some point I'll realize the writer's block is gone and I'll just say, "I wanna write."(less)
