Amy Mall is a writer, researcher, advocate, policy analyst, student, and dog lover living in the District of Columbia. Over the past twenty years she has had four dogs of her own, all of whom were stray before being rescued, and fostered many more through her volunteer work with rescue organizations.

Amy has always been fascinated by both human and animal behavior. Dog Gone Missing was sparked when she saw a missing dog poster for a dog named Scout, and then a month later read a local newspaper article about Scout's fate. Not being able to find a book that explained why some dogs can find their way home on their own while others can't, or choose not to, Amy decided to write such a book.
