One key to writing is to plant yourself in the chair/sofa/swing/hammock every day and put words to paper (or screen). Writing as a profession is like any other; doctors don't have doctoring block, real estate agents don't have house-selling block. While it's true that artists may paint over a canvas fifty times or musicians may search over and over for the right note or tempo or that architects may resize and redesign a single project dozens of times, the salient point is that people doing work they believe in strive to accomplish something each and every day. The other "best thing" is when a reader tells you how much they enjoyed your work; the feeling an author gets from that kind of feedback is deep and immensely satisfying.(less)
