I have lived in several states. Like most things, that brings pros and cons. It was interesting to see the people and landscapes of each state. I have since wondered about the lives and landscapes in other countries around the world. I finally took the trip of a lifetime to England, Ireland, and Scotland in 2015. I'm glad I went then, because the following year I was diagnosed with cancer. It was while I was undergoing chemo that, unable to sleep, I wrote RUNNER. Just as I was struggling to rid myself of my disease, RUNNER was struggling to escape, first her feelings of isolation and then law enforcement. She had been forced to choose between life imprisonment and marriage to her arresting officer. She chose marriage. RUNNER is the story of ...more

Furthermore, I feel that I may have lived there then. I don't seem to connect with royalty but with servants in my reading. My feelings are so strong that I finally visited England, Ireland and Scotland in 2014. I saw several castles, which were neat, but I was more impressed by the thatched cottages! From reading about the reality of life in a cottage, or even a castle, I know that neither abode was very comfortable!(less)

Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* Thank you so much for your friend invite, Marie, and it is lovely to connect with a fellow oldie.

I'm so pleased you enjoyed your visit to the UK. I actually live in Wales, although I was born in England. We have a wealth of castles here, mainly due to the English King Edward I, who built them to subdue the Welsh.

As you can probably see from my bookshelves, my favourite genre is Historical Romance and I note that you have read some of Loretta Chase's books and given them 5 stars. She is one of my top favourite authors and I love her books. You must read her Lord of Scoundrels (Scoundrels, #3) by Loretta Chase which regularly appears on lists of the top Historical Romances.

If you are intending to read more Historical Romances, I would be happy to recommend some authors. I also run my own blog called Rakes and Rascals which mainly features reviews and author interviews these days.

Here is the link if you would like to check it out.
