Detroit Public Library is partnering with the All of Us Research Program at Wayne State University’s Shiffman Medical Library on a free virtual book c Detroit Public Library is partnering with the All of Us Research Program at Wayne State University’s Shiffman Medical Library on a free virtual book club. We will be reading We Live for the We: The Political Power of Black Motherhood by Dani McClain, who reports on race and reproductive health and is a contributing writer at The Nation and a fellow with Type Media Center. This book club is designed for adult readers. She explores complex issues such as racism, reproductive health, social justice, feminism, and motherhood. This book club will be online in the format of video meetings, live author discussion, and written discussion forum on the site Goodreads. Dani McClain will be discussing her book live on September 22 as part of this club. Participants can choose to participate in any or all of the book club activities. The book is available for free on Overdrive in ebook and audiobook formats through Detroit Public Library. Overdrive is a service provided by many public libraries that allows patrons to check out ebooks and audiobooks using their library card information. All you need to do is sign up using your library card and home library information to start browsing. Your local library may offer ebooks through another service, such as Hoopla. You don't need a library card to join us!
