Born in Rockledge Florida, Candie was influenced from birth by her father, the rocket scientist. Growing up on Merritt Island her world was full of unimaginable intrigue. As a small child she roamed the halls of NASA, mesmerized by the rooms of giant computers. It was the height of the space-race, her family regularly attended rocket launches, and Candie’s love for all things science fiction exploded. Star Trek and Star Wars were her first fairytales. A world where all things belonged, that science and time might belong with make-believe and magic.

But that magic seemed out of reach. For Candie school was a struggle. Severely dyslexic, her disability went undiagnosed for years. In the fifth grade Winnie the Pooh came to the rescue with book

I think this is something that all writers endure throughout their entire writing career. I also believe it is that drive, that self-doubt, that “I can do better” craving which makes us the writers we’re meant to be.
And likewise, if you too put words on paper, then you are counted among the many who call themselves writers. However, if you’re asking how to become a better writer, my answer would have to be become a better everything and the writing will follow. Read more, get out more, travel more, see more, do more, talk more, laugh more, cry more…then write about it.

It was a handheld retinal scanner and it had the work SEEK written on it (you won’t see what device this inspired until book 3), I’m sure it was an acronym for something, though I never looked it up. My mind exploded with images and storylines. I sat down and got straight to work. About six weeks later I had a rough draft – and I mean rough! – then I got sidetracked writing another series (which I’m also still secretly working on) and then my life took an unexpected turn (if you follow my Addicted to Words blog you know what I’m talking about) and I was away from writing for a long while. I’ve been back it since last September and now it’s GO time! (less)
