I am a technical writer in computer software and biotechnology.

In 1993, I won first prize in a national magazine’s short-story writing contest for which Ray Bradbury and Robert Bloch were judges, an award which held special meaning, as Bloch remains my favorite writer and main literary influence. I have had essays, articles and reviews printed in a variety of publications, including FilmFax, Mad About Movies and Monsters From The Vault. Additionally, I contributed to the book Peter Cushing: Midnight Marquee Actor Series (2004.)

A long-time community activist, I am particularly committed to the causes of animal rescue and breast cancer research. I live with my husband in the historic harbor town of Marblehead, MA.

If the block is serious (sometimes I'll be "stuck" for a bit, but I get back to it shortly), I have to completely step away from the writing. If I try to push myself through a bad block, trying to force my out of it never works.

And so I walk away from the writing. Totally ignore it. Sometimes it's taken weeks. Sometimes months. But at a point my mind unconsciously begins to wander back to think again of the writing. And in almost every case, that "wall" that had blocked me starts to crumble.(less)

Now Available: my collection of horror short-short fiction

This is an important and personal post for me. My first story collection, a chapbook, has just been released. It is a collection of horror drabbles. (A drabble is a piece of fiction exactly 100 words long.)

Setting pride aside, I'm asking for your support on this project. I'm proud of this collection and of course I want it to be successful. Writing a complete story in only 100 WORDS is not easy. A Read more of this blog post »
