Kinga Brady discovered Pride and Prejudice in grammar school in Hungary, where Austen’s wit, irony, and timeless romance left a lasting impression. Years later, after devouring countless Austen variations, she began writing the stories she longed to read herself – fresh, emotionally rich reimaginings set firmly within the Regency world.

Her first novel, Dear Sir, began as a simple letter, shared at her husband’s suggestion. To her surprise, readers clamoured for more, and the story grew chapter by chapter into a beloved variation. She has since written several Pride and Prejudice reimaginings, including Passion and Persistence and More Discerning.

Kinga’s novels are known for their authentic Regency atmosphere, elegant yet accessible prose, a

Vanity and Pride in Pride and Prejudice

That sentence – “Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously” – appears in Pride and Prejudice during one of Mary Bennet’s earnest moral pronouncements. As is frequently the case with Mary, she is both correct and slightly missing the point – and Jane Austen, with her quiet irony, lets us see more than the speaker does.
The distinction is subtle but crucial.

Kinga Brady My first novel, ‘Dear Sir,’ is a Pride and Prejudice variation that was born from a lingering idea in my mind. As I put pen to paper, the story and characters took on a life of their own, evolving into a book that I humbly offer for your entertainment. While it may shock purist fans of the original, I assure you that Elizabeth's journey leads to a satisfying conclusion.
My second book, ‘More Discerning,’ is a testament to my continued love for Austen’s world, with Elizabeth at its heart. As I wrote, the characters responded to the differences in Jane and Elizabeth, evolving in unexpected ways. I am eagerly anticipating sharing these surprises with you, my readers.
My third book’s idea also has been with me for a long time. It bothered me that our couple always met by accident. I wanted to create a Darcy who goes after Elizabeth. Now the novel is finished and is called ‘Passion and Persistence.’ I hope you will like it.
I have created information websites for all three books that will help you better imagine the world of the novels. The links are on the first pages.
I hope my reimaginings of Austen’s stories will provide you with a unique and enjoyable reading experience.
