Allen Learst is a former associate editor for Cimarron Review and a co-founder of Pinyon Review. In 2011 he won the Leapfrog Fiction Contest for his collection of linked stories titled Dancing at the Gold Monkey. He has published fiction, essays, and poetry in journals such as Alaska Quarterly Review, Ascent, Chattahoochee Review, The Literary Review, Passages North, Hawaii Review, and War, Literature, and the Arts. Black bear and ideas for writing....

Picture I've been working on my novel called BONEFISH for about 10 years. The idea came to me in a kind of frenzy and I wrote a rough draft in about 15 weeks. And I do mean rough, but I kept at it because I thought there was a story there, I just had to find it.
