I don't judge or try to direct the ideas and words as they surface; I just trust the process and allow the flow. I can always go back and edit later. Often, I get some spontaneous inspiration when I'm in nature or when I'm traveling. I do feel stuck sometimes, and I've trained myself not to panic. I know from experience, the inspiration will start to flow again eventually. I also recently took an on-line course by Jessica Brody called Conquering Writer's Block (Writing Mastery), and found her ideas to be quite useful at getting the creative juices flowing.(less)

Amid the Trees

Autumnal winds blew this summer’s day
And my hands worked to take the form of you
Oh creator, how I felt you in my bones
The elements of creation stacked up to the height of me
A frame falling short
But rising
Rising when you whispered my name
The one the trees gave to me
The day you gave me to the trees
Rising as their leaves chattered
Bracing for the fall
Already on
