J J Noad writes atmospheric British mysteries in which the past rarely stays where it belongs.

His Echoes Mysteries combine psychological suspense, hidden history and unsettling shifts in memory and reality. The series begins with Fractured Echoes, set in an off-season Blackpool where people disappear and memories change, and continues with Original Echoes, where a 1962 investigation leads back to events buried since 1895.

Lancashire and Blackpool feature strongly in his fiction. Having lived in Lancashire for many years, he draws on the landscape, history and character of the area to create settings that are familiar but never entirely comfortable.
