Mars Dumont

Actually, Mars Dumont is not a real person, it's two people. We think of ourselves as a band. Originally we tried to think of a band name like “Liquid Mars” but it sounded too goofy so we came up with a nome de plume using his made up first name and my made up last name.

Mars:
Mars was born in Poona, India. His father was a biologist, and research grants took his family to Mexico City, Silicone Valley, Stockholm, and finally New York City. After graduating from the Bronx High School of Science, Mars traveled around Europe and spent time in London and Prague. He finished his undergraduate studies at Columbia College, with a major in art history and a minor in physics, and then got a Masters degree at Columbia’s Graduate School of Ar

Mars Dumont Dad was right. There were too many drunks back then! They rolled off the Providence boat and hit the bar at the Royal Hotel right across the street and never left until the boat departed the next day. It was great! The beaches were completely empty. Not even the islanders went to the beach back then. Now it's way too overcrowded so if you go, go after Labor Day. I've sat on that porch at Georges many times and Champlin's too!

Jane Hi - So glad to hear you like RI! I have NEVER been to Block Island - can you believe it? Grew up on a boat, but Dad said there were too many drunks in the marinas on BI. We used to go to Dutch Island in Narragansett Bay and my favorite, Cuttyhunk Island (one of the Elizabeth Islands in MA). But I love to sit on the beach at East Matunick or on the porch at George's of Gallilea and watch the BI ferry go back & forth.

And yes, RI chowder is the best! My late mom used to make chowder & clamcakes and I have her recipes. Yum!

Sean Kavanagh Hi Mars - thanks for the comment about A Country Fit for Zeros - the books was actually published under the title "Fiction on Foreign Planets Vol2" in the end (Goodreads won't allow me to delete the now defunct titles) - links here:

Owen O'Neill Thanks for the friend request. To answer your question, that's probably Alecto. It contains the "infamous Ch.6" which many of our reviews mention (though not by name).

The rest of the books explore other themes, against a picturesque background of exploding starships. ;-)
