The way William described what true love was between “true minds” two people who had a deeper connection was incredible. William Shakespeare mostly focuses on the Eros type of love. Well, in the works I’ve read. The title of this poem is “Let me not to the marriage of true minds”. The reason this poem is titled this way brings me to the vows you say when you are getting married. You both vow to love each other until death do you part, and through sickness “Admit impediments. Love is not love.” I really enjoyed the poem. At first I was confused, but once I read it again I was so in love with this poem! As a Christian I believe God is love so, the way William describes true love was like reading 1 Corinthians 13. This poem is trying to get the reader’s attention on what love feels like and is. I feel like William was trying to express the point do not get married if you are not truly in love.
This poem is revealing what love is and what love is not. William wrote, “Let me not to the marriage of true minds Admit impediments.” It sounds like the writer or speakers is declaring to himself this. Impediment means obstacle, so it sounds like the writer is reminding himself to never allow himself to allow any obstacles that can destroy his marriage. Not just marriage but, anything from his lover or from the outside that will cause him to loose focus on his lover. The way William says, “true minds” refers to a deep connection two people have. It is almost like they can talk to each other telepathically. “Or bends with the remover to remove,” William writes. Here he refers to the fact that someone or something will come to remove your focus off your lover. Time sometimes can make people stop loving a person because their getting out of shape or older. True love does not allow their love to change. I think every girl will love this poem. Every girl wants to be loved and how adorable is it when the person you love shows you they love you truly.
