Found this via Jeselnik's book club. Really enjoyed it. The book felt cinematic from start to finish with some really great and colourful characters and an incomparable writing style that took a few pages to get used to, but then kept you on the hook ...more

Read this as part of Anthony Jeselnik's book club.

It was fine but just didn't land for me. It felt like the kind of set piece that you'd be given to read in your high school English class.

It was laid on a bit too thick for me and just wasn't enjoya

This was a 3.5 for me. The author's political views, while always known, were very heavy handed here and it got a bit much.

However, it was Spider, and a good time, so there's that.

On one hand, this was good, albeit silly, fun. On the other, it was a smart and quite profound commentary on design.

This book was a 3-star experience for me, but the mistake I made was listening to it. I needed to read this book with a highlighter and a notepad, so I will do another pass that way. In short, the book was better than my experience with it.

“Like most gunters, I voted to reelect Cory Doctorow and Wil Wheaton (again). There were no term limits, and those two geezers had been doing a kick-ass job of protecting user rights for over a decade.”
Ernest Cline, Ready Player One

“Authority without wisdom is like a heavy axe without an edge, fitter to bruise than polish.”
Anne Bradstreet

Benjamin Dreyer
“That the French have had for centuries an académie that keeps a sharp and controlling eye on their language is why it’s easier for a modern French speaker to read and understand Molière than it is for a modern English speaker to read and understand Shakespeare.”
