I’m sure like Andy, you'll remember that pivotal moment in your life, that one milestone when you picked up your first real book and placed it down again three hours later, mesmerized and enthralled. For Andy, it was his tenth birthday, and the book was Peter Benchley’s “Jaws”. As I travel so much and visit so many interesting places, I love to build those experiences into the story, so no matter whether it’s a remote lighthouse on the west coast of Scotland, an old silver mine in Alva, or the wonderfully atmospheric Midlina (Bridge between two continents) in Iceland. I want to the reader to believe that these places are real. Because in most cases, they are. (less)
