As a child if you did not find Leah reading you found her writing and almost always the subject was animals.

She began getting serious about a writing career producing canine healthcare articles for a Maine publication called Down East Dog News.

"Little Paws and Lion Hearts" is her first lengthy project. Hopefully just the start of a long list of super fun work to be inspired by her four legged friends.

Snow is here!

Here in Maine, we've been elbow deep in the preparing for snow season. Nothing more important in our world this time of year then a full hay shed for the horses and a full wood shed for us. Now we are ready to hunker down for the winter.

Last night was our first snow. A beautiful little storm that left a light and fluffy couple of inches and a winter wonderland feeling. Something I don't have when Read more of this blog post »

Walter Farley
“I believe that half the trouble in the world comes from people asking 'What have I achieved?' rather than 'What have I enjoyed?' I've been writing about a subject I love as long as I can remember--horses and the people associated with them, anyplace, anywhere, anytime. I couldn't be happier knowing that young people are reading my books. But even more important to me is that I've enjoyed so much the writing of them.”
Walter Farley, The Black Stallion

“Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it.”
Jack Canfield

“I think if I've learned anything about friendship, it's to hang in, stay connected, fight for them, and let them fight for you. Don't walk away, don't be distracted, don't be too busy or tired, don't take them for granted. Friends are part of the glue that holds life and faith together. Powerful stuff.”
Jon Katz

Enid Bagnold
“I don't like people," said Velvet. "... I only like horses.”
Enid Bagnold, National Velvet

Anna Sewell
“if we could act a little more according to common sense, and a good deal less according to fashion, we should find many things work easier;”
Anna Sewell, Black Beauty
